The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHZ PLB distress signal in Clearwater National Forest, Idaho. The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center received the SARSAT alert and notified the State of Washington 36 Rescue Squadron. The rescue squadron launched a helicopter to the SARSAT location. The crew of the helicopter located the four hunters and their dog and transported them to the Idaho County Airport. No injuries reported.

50 NM west of Marco Island, Florida
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHZ, EPIRB distress signal 50 NM west of Marco Island, Florida. The fishing vessel Miss Sue, with 4 persons on board, was taking on water. The crew of the disabled vessel manually activated their EPIRB. Coast Guard District 7 Rescue Coordination Center received the SARSAT alert and launched a fixed wing aircraft to the scene. The crew of the aircraft found the vessel and dropped a radio and a pump to the vessel. The crew of the vessel fixed the leak. The vessel was able to continue to its destination.

10 miles south of Augusta, Georgia
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHZ PLB distress signal 10 miles south of Augusta, Georgia. The pilot of an aircraft activated his PLB after he parachuted from his aircraft. The aircraft had lost control of the elevator. The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center received the SARSAT alert, notified the Burke County Sheriff Department, and passed on the location of the pilot. The county sheriff located the pilot.

8 NM south of Salinas Point, Crooked Island, Bahamas
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHz EPIRB distress signal 8 NM south of Salinas Point, Crooked Island, Bahamas. Coast Guard District 7 Rescue Coordination Center passed on registration and SARSAT location information to the Royal Bahamian Defense Force. The pleasure vessel Lady Laura with three people on board was taking on water. The crew was able to control the flooding. Another vessel, the Ocean Breeze assisted the vessel and facilitated a tow back to Castle Island.

Gulf of Mexico about 23 NM west of Clearwater, Florida
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHz PLB distress signal in the Gulf of Mexico about 23 NM west of Clearwater, Florida. Coast Guard District 07 (CGD7) received the alert and contacted the emergency contacts listed in the PLB registration. CGD7 RCC was informed that the PLB owner was aboard the vessel Seek This. Air Station Clearwater launched a helicopter to the scene. The crew of the helicopter located the disabled vessel. The crew of the helicopter vectored in a Good Samaritan vessel which was able to assist the Seek This. The Seek This proceeded to the Tierra Verde Boat Ramp under its own power.

NW region of the Grand Mesa National Forest, Colorado
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHZ PLB distress signal in the northwest region of the Grand Mesa National Forest in Colorado. The PLB owner came across an injured hiker that needed medical assistance. The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) received the SARSAT alert and contacted the Colorado Search and Rescue Board. The Park Police were notified of the incident and were provided the location by the AFRCC. The hiker was rescued with unknown injuries.

Pamlico Sound, North Carolina
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHZ PLB distress signal in the Pamlico Sound, North Carolina. A kayaker was experiencing chest pains and activated his PLB. Coast Guard District 5 Rescue Coordination Center received the alert and dispatched rescue personnel to the alert site location. Sector North Carolina was able to locate the kayaker and transport him to a nearby hospital.

Approx. 30 NM southeast of South Padre Island, Texas
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHz EPIRB distress signal approximately 30 NM southeast of South Padre Island, Texas. Coast Guard District 8 received the SARSAT alert for the EPIRB on the fishing vessel Stone Mountain. This vessel was taking on water. The Coast Guard used the SARSAT position to locate the vessel and towed the Stone Mountain to a safe harbor.

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
The COSPAS-SARSAT system detected a 406 MHZ PLB distress signal in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) received the alert. The AFRCC contacted the Grand Canyon National Park service authorities and passed them the SARSAT position. An individual hiking in the Grand Canyon activated his PLB when he became extremely fatigued. The Park service authorities located the distressed hiker and transported him using a helicopter to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment of exhaustion and hyperthermia.
