3/18/2008 Grand Canyon West, Arizona

Air Force Rescue Coordination Center contacted the Arizona Department of Emergency Management.  AFRCC reported that a PLB was activated by an individual that was riding his ATV and got stuck in the mud.  The ST. George police department rescued the individual.

3/15/2008 Forest Falls, California A father and son were hiking on the Gorgonio trail in the San Bernardino Mountains.  The father fell and broke his arm.  They activated their PLB.  The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center received the SARSAT alert and contacted the California Office of Emergency Services which sent out a rescue team.  The team located the father and son and transported via snow cat to the Loma Linda hospital.

3/13/2008 Point Pleasant, New Jersey  The Capt Joe taking on water and the crew of four was abandoning the vessel to a life raft.LANTAREA RCC received the unlocated 406 MHz EPIRB alert approximately 10 minutes later.  The registration on the alert was used to contact the emergency contacts who stated the vessel was en route to Point Pleasant, New Jersey.  LANTAREA RCC launched a helicopter which located and picked up the four crewmen.

3/11/2008 Barrow, Alaska

North Slope Borough Search and Rescue launched a helicopter to the SARSAT position.  The driver of a truck carrying two passengers activated his PLB when his truck became disabled.  The rescue squad transported one person to the hospital complaining of back pain, and the other two persons to the station in Barrow.

3/8/2008 Bristol Bay, Alaska The power fishing vessel Turmoil, with three persons on board, caught fire.  The Coast Guard District Seventeen Rescue Coordination Center launched a helicopter to the scene.  Coast Guard also sent out an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast(UMIB).  An aircraft responded to the UMIB and gave the position of the burning vessel to the Coast Guard.  A Good Samaritan found the vessel Turmoil burned to the waterline and grounded.  The three crewmembers were on the beach.  They were later picked up and delivered safely to King Cove.  There were no injuries.

3/8/2008 Bayport, Florida The shrimp trawler Ellen Louise became disabled and began taking on water.  Coast Guard District Seven Rescue Coordination Center launched a helicopter to the scene.  The crew of the helicopter hoisted the two people on board the helicopter and brought them to safety.

3/04/2008 Port Aransas, Texas

The vessel Air Pirate encountered 10 to 12 foot seas and the people on board activated their EPIRB and requested to be taken off the vessel.  Coast Guard District Eight launched a helicopter to the vessel.  The crew of the helicopter hoisted the two people on board and brought them to safety.
