FEB. 2007 Location of detected distress signal: Description:
2/21/07 Barrow, Alaska

Two persons were traveling in a pick up truck from Deadhorse , Alaska to Barrow, Alaska when they nearly ran out of fuel. The outside temperature was minus 30 degrees with white out conditions. North Slope Borough Search and Rescue flew a helicopter to the scene. The helicopter crew located the vehicle. One of the travelers was transported to Barrow to procure fuel. The fuel was brought back to the truck and the travelers continued their journey.

2/20/07 Gulf of Alaska

The Fishing Vessel Jade Alaska was struck by a large wave and sunk. The crew abandoned their vessel. Coast Guard District 17 received the SARSAT alert and launched a helicopter to the scene. The crew of the helicopter found the three crewmembers in a life raft wearing survival suits.. The helicopter flew the crew of the sunken vessel to safety.

2/18/07 Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The crew of the Fishing Vessel Bonney Anne had activated their distress beacon after an electrical fire destroyed the vessels battery. Coast Guard District Seven received a SARSAT alert and launched a helicopter to the scene. The helicopter crew hoisted the three persons from the disabled fishing vessel and flew them to safety.

2/13/07 Long Beach, California

Coast Guard PACAREA Rescue Coordination Center received the SARSAT alert and informed Coast Guard Station Long Beach. The Coast Guard launched a helicopter and a 41 foot boat to assist the Fishing Vessel Little Joe II. The helicopter arrived on the scene and removed the five persons on board, as the boat was taking on water and later sunk. The five persons were in good condition and were transported back to Long Beach .

2/9/2007 Dillingham, Alaska

A phone call reported an aircraft overdue and then the SARSAT alert was received. The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center launched a helicopter to the scene based on the SARSAT alert. The helicopter located the two persons and transported them to Dillingham.

2/3/2007 Barrow, Alaska

An individual traveling from Barrow to Wainwright, Alaska activated his PLB when his snow machine broke down. The North Slope Borough Search and Rescue helicopter located the individual and returned him to Barrow without injury.

2/3/2007 Oahu, Hawaii

Coast Guard District 14 in Honolulu received the SARSAT alert and launched a helicopter to the area. The helicopter crew found four persons clinging to an overturned vessel. The four persons were hoisted aboard the helicopter and transported to a medical facility.
